Black People Don’t Get Depressed

Black People Don’t Get Depressed – A bold and necessary documentary that challenges stereotypes, unpacking Black mental health with honesty and urgency.

Sam Nzima

SAM Nzima: Through His Lens – A compelling portrait of the legendary photojournalist who captured the world-changing image of Hector Pieterson during the Soweto Uprising.

Nina

Nina (Northern Cape Premiere) – Be the first to witness this hauntingly beautiful story made in the heart of the Northern Cape – a local gem that’s making its world debut right here at Mbawula!

Mother City

Mother City is about exploring Cape Town’s history with apartheid. The story follows a social movement fighting for affordable housing to make the city more inclusive for Black Africans.

These international and continental titles will take center stage alongside our proudly curated local films and youth-driven stories, making this year’s festival a powerful space for reflection, dialogue, and discovery.
